If paradise had an address, it would be Costa Blu Resort on Ambergris Caye, Belize. One look at this gorgeous resort will have you thinking, no way can I afford that. But you’re in luck! Today I’m taking you on a tour of Ambergris Caye’s most delightful and affordable adults-only resort.
My new hubby and I picked Costa Blu Resort for our honeymoon last month. I had known for years that I wanted Belize to be my next big trip, so the destination was a no-brainer. After browsing online and debating between resorts and hotels, I came across Costa Blu Resort and immediately fell in love with the design. The buildings were all painted my favorite color, with adorable coral accents throughout the resort. It was re-opened in 2015 after new ownership did a major renovation. The colorful buildings felt perfectly tropical. Once I saw the nightly rates, my mind was made up! I could not believe that I had found a seemingly brand-new resort, right on the beach, for the price that was listed. It seemed too good to be true. Costa Blu exceeded every expectation we had for our honeymoon. With rooms starting at just $127 per night, you’ll be packing your bags faster than you can say coconut.
Located 6.5 miles north of San Pedro Town, Costa Blu is an adorable boutique resort featuring just 36 one-bedroom suites. The resort’s small size makes it easy to meet other guests as well as get to know the phenomenal staff. From the front desk to the bartenders, every staff member we spoke with made us feel like the most important guests there. I absolutely loved how small it was! With just a few bungalow-style buildings, it stayed quiet and peaceful during our entire stay.
Every suite has an ocean view from the huge decks – each room gets the huge patio space pictured above! It’s the perfect spot to relax in the morning with a cup of coffee and a book. I loved having a top floor room as it gave you a bit more privacy and a better view of the gorgeous, sparkly blue Caribbean Sea. I could not believe the views we had from such an affordable room at Costa Blu!
When we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne with two wine glasses on the bed, arranged into a heart. It was a sweet touch, perfect for our honeymoon, that we happily enjoyed the next morning as we sipped mimosas from our private balcony.
Two pools and a heated swim up bar make the Costa Blu Resort the perfect place to laze the day away. I spent countless hours swimming and lounging here! The bartenders seemed to know just when I had finished up my delicious rum punch and were happy to keep them coming! During the evenings, the heated section of the pool was the perfect temperature to relax before heading back to the room. The bar was under a huge palapa and the TV showed American sports games every night.
Being 6.5 miles north, the resort felt just secluded enough but yet not too far to easily get to town. The resort provides golf cart rentals for approximately $60 USD per day, which we took advantage of on multiple occasions! It’s a bumpy 30 minute ride into town, but honestly, that’s part of the adventure! If you don’t want to be responsible for a golf cart, just take the Coastal XPress Boat, which picks you up at the end of Costa Blu’s dock at specified times. Buying the tickets through the resort was the cheapest option at around $8 per person, per way. The latest ride from town back to the resort was 10pm.
Costa Blu was the perfect choice for our Caribbean honeymoon. From the room style and price to the resort amenities, we enjoyed every minute of our stay! Now the only question is when can we go back?

Congrats on the wedding! We are looking for somewhere to go for our twentieth anniversary. Is this place all inclusive?
Thanks, Marisa! It isn’t all inclusive, however it is adults only. It’s so small and peaceful – while we were there over Thanksgiving there were maybe 10 to 15 other guests total! I think that beats a packed, all inclusive resort any day 🙂 Belize is a fabulous vacation choice! Congrats on 20 years!
This resort looks fantastic. A great location by the sea and beautiful pool and facilities. Your welcome champagne and the heart is also very cute. I hope you had a spectacular honeymoon and congratulations too.
Congrats on your wedding, I just have a few questions on COSTA BLU. #1 how close are other restaraunte to dine at? # 2 is the beach a walk right in and clean? and # 3 are there other places to rent a golf cart that is cheaper that you might know about?
Hey Cyndi! The closest restaurants are not walking distance, as Costa Blu is 6.5 miles north of town. It’s totally possible to stay in town for dinner and then head back up in your golf card though. Yes, the beach is extremely clean – I never saw a single piece of trash. You can walk right out and because the waves break over the reef, it’s perfectly calm along the shore. There are several companies to rent golf carts in town but we didn’t really look into their prices because it was more convenient to just rent one as needed from the resort. However, if you do a week-long rental from somewhere in town I’m sure you could get a better price. There’s a little golf cart parking area at Costa Blu where you can park your cart overnight easily.
Oh my goodness, I love the over-the-top bed display of towels, bubbly and petals…
It was such a nice surprise!
Wow, looks awesome… Who doesn’t want to to go there just for foods and this lovely beach..
This looks like an amazing place to relax! Thanks for sharing.
