La Concha Hotel in Key West is a gorgeous, 4-star resort in the heart of Key West’s downtown. I stayed here with my husband, John, for our third wedding anniversary this year and we were beyond impressed with La Concha Hotel — the location was perfect, their staff treated us like royalty, and the amenities were top-notch.
From the moment we checked in until we left (very, very early in the morning since we had to drive the 3.5 hours back to Fort Lauderdale for our flight), the staff were beyond helpful and kind and offered one of the best hotel experiences I have had.
La Concha Hotel’s Downtown Key West Location
When we were booking this trip, we knew we wanted to stay within walking distance of all the things we wanted to do. Duval Street, where La Concha Hotel is located, is Key West’s main street that is lined with bars, restaurants, and shops. La Concha is in a very central location where it seemed like everything we looked up throughout our stay was a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
In the block or so surrounding La Concha Hotel, you will find boutiques for shopping, the original Margaritaville restaurant, a delicious homemade ice cream and fudge shop, art galleries, and more!
The island’s northern edge, where Mallory Square is located, is about five blocks away and a quick, fun walk. In the other direction, the famous Southernmost Point buoy is a 15 minute walk. La Concha Hotel is perfectly located in the middle of downtown, making it easy to walk to any of the sights, restaurants, or activities you have planned during your stay.

Our Room at La Concha Hotel
We booked their Deluxe King Room which offered about 100 extra square feet of space over the standard King Room. The price difference was pretty small for the amount of extra space we would get, and I ended up thinking it was worth it.
The room was plenty big with the absolute most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on in a hotel. I’m serious. The most comfortable ever. It was amazing and I could have moved right in!
I didn’t know this when I booked this hotel, but La Concha Hotel actually has a Starbucks store connected to the hotel. It makes the lobby smell amazing, and it is so convenient to grab coffee and breakfast in the morning before heading out.
There are for sure some amazing breakfast restaurants (and independent coffee shops — Cuban Coffee Queen, for example!) in Key West, but I really do not like breakfast food so having a Starbucks right there was perfect for us.
The La Concha Hotel Pool
We spent the entire Saturday of our trip at the hotel pool and I have zero regrets. It feels like a rooftop pool (even though it’s technically not) and was plenty big for the number of people that were there during our visit.
The pool bar was closed due to Covid, but this ended up being a good thing! We went to the grocery store in the morning to get snacks and hard seltzer drinks, with a cheap foam cooler. This was the perfect, cheap setup for an afternoon of day drinking at the pool!
It would have been very expensive to have the number of drinks we did if we had to purchase them from a bar, so it totally worked out to bring our own. The pool was perfectly relaxing and a great way to spend an afternoon on vacation.
La Concha Hotel’s COVID Precautions
We visited La Concha Hotel in Key West in September 2020, while Covid-19 was still very much going on. The hotel restaurant, bars, and spa were not open as precautions and masks were required anytime you were not in your room. This was enforced and I never saw a staff member without one.
Housekeeping was also foregone during your stay in order to limit the housekeepers’ exposure. We requested fresh sheets one day and were provided them to change ourselves, which was no big deal at all.
We noticed plenty of sanitizing and cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as elevator buttons, the front desk areas, etc. while we were there as well. It seemed to me that the hotel was taking all the precautions they could to ensure the safety of the guests and staff, and I felt perfectly comfortable staying there.
Overall, I highly recommend staying at La Concha Hotel & Spa in Key West! It’s a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel in an amazing location. We debated staying downtown vs. at more of a resort-style hotel but farther away, and I’m so glad that we chose La Concha Hotel! We had an amazing time in Key West and waking up at La Concha Hotel every morning was certainly a great part of that.

Looks perfect… and I’m with you, I’d be in the pool the whole day too… no regrets!!! 🙂
